A graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design, Kristin Hughes holds a BFA in Fibers. With her passport filled with stamps from India, Africa, and Europe, her foreign travels inspire her to draw from local and international sources. Her desire to create products that focus on hand rendered quality drives her process. Focusing on detail and an exploration of techniques and materials, she constantly pushes the boundaries of her own designs. Colors, patterns, textures, and material explorations influence her aesthetic.

Since graduation, Kristin was selected as one of the first 20 artisans for Coach Inc.’s Leather Apprentice Program. In her previous role as Leather Apprentice, she advised clients on aesthetics of customizable design through handbag embellishments. Based in Dallas, Texas, she traveled quarterly to corporate headquarters in New York for professional forums and specialized technical training. A gifted teacher and articulate spokesperson, she led training sessions on marketing product customization for multiple stores in the Dallas area.

Most recently, Kristin spent January-June in Florence, Italy experiencing the art of handmade leather handbags from skilled leather craftsmen. After learning the skills required in pattern development, design and construction, Kristin created a variety of small leather goods and handbags.

Kristin continues to push the boundaries of her own art and design through sketching, ideation and designing small personal projects.
